A guide to alopecia

Alopecia which is more frequently referred to as baldness is a disorder which creates a lack of hair where it would normally grow. It is predominantly a condition that affects the head however it can occur anywhere and in some cases all over the body. The most common form of Alopecia is a is a progressive hair-thinning condition that can occur in both adult humans and primates (monkeys).
The severity of alopecia can vary considerably and can occur in both males and females  which is called alopecia androgenetica. There is also alopecia areata which effects some of the hair on the head. Alopecia totalis which is the loss of all the hair on the head. Finally, and most severely there is alopecia universalis which involves the loss of all the hair from the head and the body.
Unfortunately there is very limited success with treatment of alopecia and the more severe the hair loss the less successful the treatment is likely to be.  Alopecia has many psychological effects  including stress and depression, this can unfortunately make the alopecia even worse as it can be triggered by severe stress.
There are several other kinds of baldness. Traction alopecia is most commonly found in people with ponytails or cornrows that pull on their hair with excessive force. Wearing a hat shouldn't generally cause this, though it is a good idea to let your scalp breathe for 7 hours a day. Traumas such as chemotherapy, childbirth, major surgery, poisoning, and severe stress may cause a hair loss condition known as telogen effluvium. Some mycotic infections can cause massive hair loss. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disorder also known as "spot baldness" that can result in hair loss ranging from just one location (Alopecia areata monolocularis) to every hair on the entire body (Alopecia areata universalis).
Luckily alternative look can provide some peace of mind from alopecia. We are NHS certified and can provide both Synthetic and Human Hair wigs.
